A system for controlling operation of a winch assembly having an electric motor, a drum, and a cable. A controller is configured to access a winch load threshold, with the winch load threshold defining a hold zone and a reel zone, and one of the hold zone and the reel zone including loads greater than the winch load threshold and another of the hold zone and the reel zone including loads less than the winch load threshold. The controller is further configured to determine whether the drum is rotating, determine whether the winch assembly is operating within the hold zone or the reel zone, generate a hold current while the winch assembly is operating within the hold zone preventing rotation of the electric motor, and generate a reel current while the drum is operating within the reel zone permitting rotation of the electric motor.

A track-type tractor includes a frame housing defining an internal cavity extending to an outer bore, an electric motor module, and a final drive assembly. The electric motor module includes a motor housing having a flanged end portion, and a rotor shaft extending through the flanged end portion. The flanged end portion is mounted to a outer mounting surface of the frame housing surrounding the outer bore, such that the electric motor module extends through the outer bore and is retained within the frame housing internal cavity. The final drive assembly is mounted to the flanged end portion and includes a gear set in operative engagement with the rotor shaft for motorized operation of the final drive assembly. A track-type tractor includes a frame housing defining an internal cavity extending to an outer bore, an electric motor module, and a final drive assembly. A rotary electric machine (10) includes a stator (11), a rotor (12), a plurality of coils (25), and a plurality of flow enhancement members (70, 71). Each coil has a compound outer surface (31) along major sections thereof with an insulating layer disposed therealong. The compound outer surfaces (31) of each pair of adjacent coils (25) define a channel (55, 56) extending along adjacent major sections of each adjacent pair of coils. One of the flow enhancement members (70, 71) is disposed within each channel (55, 56) between the adjacent major sections of each pair of adjacent coils (25), with each flow enhancement member defining a gap between the compound outer surface (31) of one of the coils and the flow enhancement member through which cooling fluid may flow.
