A method of calculating a step voltage and a maximum contact voltage in a gas-insulated substation, comprising: upon precisely calculating a housing loop current condition, a grounding condition and a housing potential distribution condition of a totally-enclosed combined electric apparatus, obtaining a potential distribution condition of a soil surface, thereby obtaining, on the basis of the above, distribution conditions of the substation step voltage and a maximum contact voltage. The method greatly increases calculation precision, more precisely performs calculations with respect to a problem at the substation, and performs targeted and effective prevention and maintenance with respect to problems resulting from faults at the substation. The method is economically favorable, and reduces unnecessary economic losses by targeted prevention.
